After leaving Cheltenham Art College in 1984 with a BA
hons Degree in Fashion, Ali moved to Cardiff where she trained
as a dresser in the costume department at BBC Wales. Progressing from
dresser, to assistant designer and eventually to costume
designer, she worked for HTV, S4C, BBC, Tyne
Tees and numerous independent film companies.
The
birth of her first child, Ruby, in 1988 forced her to change direction.
In 1989, still reeling from terrifying smocks and voluminous dungarees,
she launched Kick Back Clothing designing
sexy maternity clothes. Despite two successful collections
at Harrods and a mail order utility range, when her son Jake was
born in 1990, she had to make changes to her hectic schedule. She wound
down the business and used her fashion training and TV experience to become
a freelance TV stylist – styling presenters
and performers for TV, film and photo-shoots.
Ali
is also a regular contributor for BBC Radio Wales,
the Western Mail & Echo newspapers and is a stylist for the
Daily Express.
Now
working predominantly as a personal stylist, style consultant and personal
shopper, Ali can offer you the benefit of 20 years'
experience of working with people and clothes.
